Intraperitoneal Transmitters

The Intraperitoneal Transmitters (IPTs) is a pill-shaped implant that fits in the peritoneal cavity of a mouse or rat. It provides a temperature sensor accurate to ±0.05°C, an accelerometer that can be configured for activity monitoring or movement recording, three unipolar biopotential inputs that can be configured for AC or DC coupling and a wide range of sample rates and bandwidths, as well as a single bipolar biopotential input with DC coupling. The unipolar inputs are intended for recording iEEG while the biopotential input is designed for ECG, EMG, or EGG.

We turn the IPT on and off with a magnet. For transmission of their sensor measurements, the IPT uses the same telemetry system as all our other implantable devices. The IPT devices come in programmable and long-life versions. The programmable versions can be re-configured wirelessly with one of our Telemetry Control Boxes (TCB). You can take a programmable IPT off the shelf, turn it on with a magnet, and configure it yourself to suit your experiment. The long-life versions we configure in our factory to your specifications. Because the long-life versions do not contain the logic and radio-frequency circuits required for command reception, they provide longer operating life than the programmable versions.
